Artist Biography
From Cape Cod to California, Mark Jacobucci's work captures coastal, rural, and urban environments with dynamic compositions and a vibrant interplay of light and color. A native of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, Mark Jacobucci developed a passion for art in early
childhood that continued throughout his academic journey, ultimately earning a Bachelor’s
degree with Highest Honors in Fine Arts from Brandeis University, followed by a Masters of
Landscape Architecture from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. This unique
combination of fine art training and environmental design continues to shape his distinctive
approach to landscape painting.
After relocating to California in 1985, Mark built a successful career in landscape planning and
design, helping shape communities throughout the region while maintaining an active studio
practice. He continued to refine his artistic skills through studies at the Laguna Art Institute and
workshops with nationally recognized painters. In 2000, he received his first gallery
representation, marking the beginning of a dedicated fine art career. Today, he is recognized as
one of Southern California’s accomplished plein-air and studio landscape painters.
Artistic Vision / Artist Statement
Mark’s paintings celebrate both the built and natural environment. His favorite subjects include
landscapes, coastlines, harbors, highways, roads, alleys, cities, and industrial scenes. Drawn
to compelling compositions, dynamic light, strong value contrasts, and carefully orchestrated
color harmonies, he paints both en plein air and in the studio.
His work blends Enhanced Impressionism with Abstract Realism, combining expressive
brushwork and purposeful palette knife passages with strong underlying design. Rich color,
confident mark-making, and an emphasis on atmosphere invite viewers to experience not only
the appearance of a place, but also its energy, mood, and sense of light.
