After earning a Master's Degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst he relocated to California in 1985 and made significant contributions to landscape planning and design for communities across the region. Simultaneously, he nurtured his passion for fine art, drawing at the Laguna Art Institute and painting at artists’ painting workshops. In 2000, Mark secured his first gallery representation.
Artistic Vision
Mark's work portrays urban and natural beauty. Preferred subjects include landscapes, coastlines, highways, roads, alleys, and industrial areas. Inspired by compelling compositions, dynamic light, strong contrast, and carefully choreographed color harmonies, Mark loves to paint on location and he employs loose, spontaneous brushwork in a manner described as abstract realism.
